HOW DOES A Boston PICKLEBALL MEN's or WOMEN's LEAGUE RUN?

The league builds a large list of ‘committed’ and ‘interested’ players for this format: Interested Players.

Format

Our Pickleball Doubles league will consist of 15 or more individual players in a division. Over the 6 week season players these players will post a location and time where they prefer to play for that week.
Players in the division will grab the spots for the posted match.
The players will then show up at the location and they will play a round robin doubles format.

4 players showing up the format would look like: (Typically 90 to 120 mins of play)
• 1st match: Player A & Player B vs Player C & Player D, play to 11
• 2nd match: Player B & Player C vs Player D & Player A, play to 11
• 3rd match: Player A & Player C vs Player B & Player D, play to 11
• 4th match: Player A & Player D vs Player B & Player C, play to 11

5 players showing up the format would look like: (Typically 90 to 120 mins of play)
• 1st match: Player A & Player B vs Player C & Player D, Player E sits, play to 9
• 2nd match: Player B & Player C vs Player D & Player E, Player A sits, play to 9
• 3rd match: Player A & Player D vs Player C & Player E, Player B sits, play to 9
• 4th match: Player A & Player E vs Player B & Player D, Player C sits, play to 9
• 5th match: Player A & Player C vs Player B & Player E, Player D sits, play to 9

Kickoff Day

The start day of the season, players are sent a kickoff email that contains important information about the league, the link where your league standings and players contact information will be available.

Your Task - "Flexible Scheduling"

After this kickoff email is sent, it is the player's task to post times & locations at courts they know they can book. Then the other players will fill the 3 to 4 other spots. We'll send out reminders 4 hours, 1 day and 3 days before the scheduled match.

Where to Play?

Play at your local pickleball courts, tennis parks, condo courts or pickleball clubs. If the location has a fee we will communicate that and each player will be expected to cover their own costs. We provide an extensive list of pickleball courts, including # of courts, lighting, hitting walls, etc. We need your help to keep this list up-to-date.

How to Play?

We hope players will be familiar with the game of pickleball before playing their first match. Please refer to this link for how to play a match: https://usapickleball.org/what-is-pickleball/how-to-play/

Progressing through the season

Players will be eligible to play as much as they can during a season. We'll send reminders for players to post scheduled matches. If players can organize 2 matches in a day then great go ahead and schedule it. If they only want to play once a week then that’s fine also. Players will earn League points and Player of the Year (POTY) as they continue to play throughout the season.

Playoffs

Come playoff time the top 5 players with the most points will be eligible for the playoffs. The most active players will have the advantage to grab those all important spots.

The following weekend after the season ends the top 5 players will be meeting at location to play the final round robin to determine the winner for the season.
